“ The Bistro is a tried and true favorite so when we had a quick date night option, my husband and I made a reservation and got there just ahead of our 6pm reservation. They sat us right away, great service, and I felt the need to review because I'm still thinking about the food two days later. We got the whipped ricotta app with honey which seemed expensive but worth every penny. Then I got a filet special with caramelized onions over mashed potatoes and the flavors were incredible. My husband got the chicken Francese which was great too but mine won the "best" prize. Added chocolate gelato at the end for something sweet. Will be back again. :) ”

“ When I think of Guilford Bistro & Grille, a warmth just spreads through me! It is quaint and oh so charming. I fell in love with it as soon as I stepped foot inside. The dim atmosphere coupled with the twinkly string lights gave everything such an intimate ambience. The place is BYOB so making it a prime place for a dinner party. Most importantly of all, they serve up some quality Italian dishes. Chicken con Funghi is the kind of dish that feels elevated but is really comfort food in disguise. The wild porcini mushrooms were roasted in that way that brought out all its meaty and woodsy undertones. The pancetta added a salty richness balanced by the sweetness of the peas and the caramelized onions. Beneath all the sauce and accoutrements, the chicken and risotto were cooked perfectly. What makes this dish really special though is that although the entree was saucy, it didn't weigh me down. I would be remiss if I didn't praise the bread served here. It was slightly toasted, warm, soft on the inside and super crispy on the outside in the kind of way that doesn't cut up your mouth when you bite into it. We went for basket after basket of these mini loaves, which, when dipped in the pepper+parmesan olive oil, was absolutely divine. I am inspired to create my own flavored olive oils at home now! To end the night on a sweet note, we went for the hazelnut gelato and the chocolate cake! The hazelnut gelato was soft, creamy, and nutty, but the chocolate cake was the winner for me! One bite was all it took to recognize that the pastry chefs behind Guilford Bistro & Grille care about their chocolate. While I wanted to save some dessert for the next night, I couldn't stop forking bite after bite! Guilford Bistro & Grille has certainly made my CT shortlist. Make this your next date night or celebratory dinner venue and you'll be blown away as well. ”
